Convert PNG to JPG and shrink file size

PNG is ideal for graphics but inefficient for photos: a photo saved as PNG can be five to ten times larger than the same photo as JPG. Converting PNG to JPG produces much smaller files that upload faster and are accepted by virtually every website, form and app.

JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a background color you choose, white by default. Adjust the quality slider to balance size and detail; 85–92% keeps photos visually identical.

Converted in your browser, never uploaded

Every conversion runs inside your browser. Images are read from your device into memory (RAM), decoded, redrawn on an HTML5 canvas and saved straight to your downloads, so personal photos never touch a server, are never stored and cannot be seen by anyone else. There is no upload wait, no file-count limit and no watermark. Converted files keep their full resolution; camera metadata such as GPS location is not copied into the new file.

Frequently asked questions

What happens to transparent areas when converting PNG to JPG?

They are filled with the background color set in the panel, white by default. Choose another color, such as your website background, if the image will sit on a colored page.

Will converting PNG to JPG lose quality?

JPG uses lossy compression, but at 85% quality and above the difference is invisible on photos. For screenshots with sharp text, keep PNG or use WebP, since JPG can blur fine edges.

How much smaller will the file be?

For photos, often 70–90% smaller. For simple graphics with few colors, the saving is smaller, and PNG may even be the better format.
