Convert JPG to PNG for lossless editing

Converting JPG to PNG gives you a lossless copy of your image: from this point on, every save keeps every pixel exactly, with no further compression artifacts. That is useful when an image will be edited many times, used in a design project, or uploaded somewhere that requires PNG.

The conversion keeps the original resolution and colors. Keep in mind that PNG cannot restore detail a JPG has already lost, and PNG files are usually larger than the JPG they came from.

Converted in your browser, never uploaded

Every conversion runs inside your browser. Images are read from your device into memory (RAM), decoded, redrawn on an HTML5 canvas and saved straight to your downloads, so personal photos never touch a server, are never stored and cannot be seen by anyone else. There is no upload wait, no file-count limit and no watermark. Converted files keep their full resolution; camera metadata such as GPS location is not copied into the new file.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting JPG to PNG improve quality?

No. PNG preserves the image exactly as it is, but it cannot recover detail removed by the original JPG compression. It only prevents further loss in future edits.

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

No. JPG images have no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same solid background. Removing a background requires an editing tool.

Why is the PNG larger than the JPG?

PNG compresses without discarding any information, so photos take more space. That is the price of lossless quality; use WebP if you need a smaller modern format.
