Bulk PNG compressor

Make PNG files smaller while keeping their transparency, for logos, screenshots and graphics.

🔒 100% Secure & Private: Your images never leave your computer. All processing happens locally in your browser.

PNG stays PNG, transparency included. PNG is lossless, so the quality slider has little effect: resizing gives the biggest savings. For files several times smaller that still keep transparency, use Convert to WebP.

Compress PNG images without losing transparency

PNG is a lossless format: it keeps every pixel exactly and supports transparent backgrounds, which is why it is used for logos, icons, screenshots and graphics with text. The trade-off is size: a single PNG screenshot can easily weigh several megabytes.

This page keeps your files in their original format, so PNGs stay PNGs with their transparency intact. Because PNG is lossless, the biggest savings come from reducing oversized dimensions. If you need files several times smaller that still keep transparency, convert them to WebP instead.

When to keep PNG and when to switch

  • Keep PNG for logos and icons that need exact colors, for screenshots with small text, and for apps that do not accept WebP.
  • Switch to WebP for images on your own website: it keeps transparency and is far lighter.
  • Switch to JPG for ordinary photos without transparency.

Why this image compressor is private

Most online compressors upload your photos to a server, process them there and send them back. This one never uploads them. The compression engine runs inside your browser using background Web Workers: your images are read from your device into memory (RAM), compressed by your own processor and saved straight to your downloads folder. Nothing is stored, and closing the tab clears everything. It also means no upload wait, no daily quota and no server file-size cap.

Frequently asked questions

Does compressing a PNG reduce its quality?

No. PNG compression is lossless, so every pixel is kept. That is also why the quality slider has little effect on PNG files: real savings come from resizing or changing format.

Will my transparent background be kept?

Yes. With Keep original format, PNG files are saved as PNG and transparent areas stay transparent. Converting to WebP also keeps transparency; converting to JPG does not.

Why is my PNG only slightly smaller?

Most PNG files are already stored efficiently. Big savings require fewer pixels or a different format: lower the maximum width or height, or convert to WebP.

What is the best way to shrink a PNG screenshot?

Resize it to the width it will actually be displayed at (for example 1280 px for a blog post), and convert it to WebP if the destination supports it. Text stays crisp in both cases.
