Convert images to WebP for faster websites
WebP is a modern image format developed by Google that supports both photo compression and transparency. At similar visual quality, WebP files are typically 25–35% smaller than JPG and much smaller than PNG, so pages load faster, use less mobile data and perform better in Core Web Vitals.
This page converts JPG, PNG and existing WebP files to WebP in bulk. Turn on SEO-friendly file names and you get clean, lowercase, hyphenated names such as "red-running-shoes.webp", ready to upload to WordPress, Shopify or any modern website.
Is WebP supported everywhere?
All current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Opera display WebP, on desktop, Android and iPhone. Some older desktop software and certain online marketplaces still accept only JPG or PNG, so keep a JPG copy for those.
Why this image compressor is private
Most online compressors upload your photos to a server, process them there and send them back. This one never uploads them. The compression engine runs inside your browser using background Web Workers: your images are read from your device into memory (RAM), compressed by your own processor and saved straight to your downloads folder. Nothing is stored, and closing the tab clears everything. It also means no upload wait, no daily quota and no server file-size cap.
Frequently asked questions
Will converting to WebP ruin my image quality?
No. At 80% quality and above, WebP images look the same as the original at normal viewing size while being much smaller. For near-identical results on detailed photos, use 90% or higher.
Does WebP support transparent backgrounds?
Yes. Unlike JPG, WebP keeps transparency, so it can replace PNG for logos and icons on websites at a fraction of the size.
Is WebP good for SEO?
Lighter images help pages load faster, and page experience is one of the signals Google considers. Combined with descriptive file names and alt text, WebP helps both your pages and your images perform better in search.
Can I upload WebP images everywhere?
Most websites and content systems accept WebP, but some marketplaces, including Shopee, accept only JPG and PNG for product photos. For those, use the Shopee photos page, which outputs JPG.
