Signatures are thin ink lines rather than objects, so this page uses a dedicated ink-extraction mode instead of the photo AI: it measures how dark each pixel is and turns paper into transparency. Adjust the strength to remove paper texture and shadows, and switch the ink to black or blue for a crisp, professional look.
How to capture a clean signature
- Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper; a felt-tip or gel pen works best.
- Photograph it in daylight, holding the phone parallel to the paper to avoid shadows.
- Crop close around the signature before or after extracting it.
AI that runs on your device, not in the cloud
Most background removers upload your photo to a server and run the AI there. Here the AI model runs inside your browser instead. The first time you use it, the model (about 40–80 MB) is downloaded and cached by your browser; after that, every photo is processed locally in memory (RAM) and saved straight to your device. Your photos, ID pictures and signatures are never uploaded, stored or used to train anything, and there are no credits, watermarks or resolution limits.
Frequently asked questions
How do I add the transparent signature to a PDF?
Most PDF editors, including Adobe Acrobat, Preview on Mac and many online editors, let you insert an image. Insert the downloaded PNG and resize it over the signature line; the transparent background keeps the document visible behind it.
Why does the paper texture or a shadow remain?
Gray areas are darker than clean paper. Increase the Strength slider until the paper disappears, or photograph the signature again in brighter, more even light.
Is a digital image of my signature legally binding?
An image of a signature is convenient for everyday documents, but it is not the same as a certified digital signature. For contracts that require legal e-signatures, use the method required by the other party or by law.
Is my signature uploaded anywhere?
No. Ink extraction runs entirely in your browser and the image never leaves your device, which is important for something as sensitive as a signature.
